Marco then created a core of five network printers with scanning and faxing technology to make common tasks easier.For the first time, employees could scan and email their documents instead of relying on a fax or mail. “That has saved every single person time,” Hoskins said. “I cannot even imagine how much that has saved us.” Besides lowering overall equipment and supply costs for printing, the Managed Print Services program provided UniqueScreen Media help desk support and an online tool to easily order supplies. “I don’t have to think about our printers anymore,” Hoskins said. “Marco’s team is so reliable. It’s a no brainer.” In the past, Hoskins or other employees could spend one hour searching for the right toner for the right price. “Now it takes two seconds,” she said. “We have all our printers and copiers online so all I have to do is type in the number and click order.” When the economic conditions put more pressure on the company’s bottom line, leaders relied on the detailed reporting tools available through Marco’s Managed Print Services and found more opportunities to reduce operating costs. The high quality printers gave UniqueScreen the flexibility to change settings and complete more of its printing needs in-house for a lower cost. The company now prints its 30-page sales manuals internally. That has allowed the company to keep the manuals more up to date for its 60-member sales force and get them in the hands of the sales team faster. In the past, UniqueScreen would use an outside printer and ship the manuals to the traveling team. Now, employees can update the manuals during training sessions and have the revised versions printed and ready for the sales team before the training ends the next day. That has saved the company $900 alone, Hoskins said. The convenience and ease of printing the manuals has led Hoskins to explore printing business cards, especially for its sales professionals, an often high-turnover position. By changing the printer settings and modifying a pre-established business card template, a UniqueScreen team member can provide its new sales people business cards on their first day of work and order additional cards from a printing company at a future date. “We hire five to eight new sales people a month and some of them can go through 40 cards in a day,” Hoskins said. |
