Any time Microsoft says “pricing” and “adjustments,” a lot of business owners might feel their heart rate creeping up. I get it. Depending on what apps you’re using and how you’re paying for them, you might actually like a few of these changes.
So let me break down exactly what’s changing and how it might affect you before I throw out a few possible solutions.
The Biggie: Price Increases for Microsoft CSP Licenses for Organizations Paying Monthly
Have a 1-year subscription but paying monthly?
If so, then you’ve got a decision to make. Because Microsoft recently announced that as of April 1, 2025, you’ll be paying 5% more per month for these products:
- Microsoft 365
- Office 365
- Enterprise Mobility + Security
- Windows 365
- Dynamics 365
- Power Platform
To avoid the additional 5%, you can change your billing plan from monthly to annual at your renewal date. You’ll save money over time, but you might need to plan ahead for a bigger budget hit this spring.
Changes To Microsoft 365 Copilot Pricing
Have you already started saving time with Microsoft Copilot? We certainly have our favorite Copilot productivity hacks here at Marco, and we’re not alone.
In fact, the app is so popular that Microsoft customers said they wanted more flexible payment options, and Microsoft agreed. So starting on December 1, monthly billing plans became available for annual subscriptions of:
- Microsoft 365 Copilot
- Microsoft 365 Copilot for Sales
- Microsoft 365 Copilot for Service
That’s great news for businesses hoping to spread out costs. But it’s a bit of a trade-off, as like the other pricing adjustments, this new monthly billing option will also come with that 5% price increase.
Updating Pricing for Microsoft Teams Phone and Power BI
Only use Power BI or Teams Phone as part of Microsoft 365 or Office 365 E5? Good news — this pricing change won’t affect you.
Now the bad news: As of April 1st, 2025, if you use Microsoft Teams Phone Standard or Power BI Pro as standalones, you’ll see price increases. Price increases are never good news, but to be fair, this is the first increase for both of these standalone products since they were launched. And Microsoft has made up for the price adjustment by adding some significant improvements to both products.
Some of these rates might look slightly different depending on your region, but here’s what to expect:
- Teams Phone Standard Licenses will cost $10/user/month
- Power BI Pro Licenses will be $14/user/month
- Power BI Premium Per User Licenses will be $24/user/month
How To Simplify Microsoft Licensing for 2025 and Beyond
Microsoft products are as popular as they are for a reason, but as organizations have embraced the new subscription model, managing these licenses has become more difficult — that is, if you’re handling it on your own.
