Choosing who to do business with requires more than a few kind words and some too good to be true promises. Before you choose a managed print services provider, ask for some proof. Reviewing case studies before partnering with a provider will help you know what you're getting into before you're in too deep.
Proof is in the Experience
It's easy to say things like “you can save money by switching to a Managed Print Service program!” But it's more difficult to make it happen. How much money a business can save with managed print services will depend on each individual service provider, as each has different capabilities, offerings and resources. Our managed print programs have saved businesses up to 30% of their printing costs. Here are a few managed print services case studies from businesses and organizations that have partnered with us for managed print services.
Mt. Mercy University
Mt. Mercy University was founded in 1928. It's a private, Catholic university located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The University was disappointed with their service provider and was looking for a new partner.
Once they partnered with Marco, they experienced the benefits of their managed print service (MPS) program. A total of 92 new copier/printer devices were installed and repositioned throughout the campus over a smooth, three-week period. A print software called PaperCut was also implemented – it provides users an ID number to access all networked devices. This made it possible for the University to assign and track print usage by student, department and project type, providing control over print output and helping them better manage costs.
Hudson Schools
The Hudson School District is one of the fastest growing districts in Wisconsin, serving a population of over 5,000 students. Naturally, in an environment that big, it was difficult for the district to keep track of their printers and copiers. They needed to streamline their print environment in order to get better control of their costs.
As their MPS provider, Marco centralized their printing and began tracking usage by both user and machine. After tracking data, we were able to make recommendations for other ways the district could decrease unnecessary printing. As an added benefit, the school district began distributing more information using digital files instead of relying solely on print.
Sauk Rapids-Rice Public Schools
Sauk Rapids-Rice Public School system has thousands of students and multiple locations. Initially, each building was responsible for its own copier/printer leases and supply purchases. However, like many other school districts, they were looking for ways to reduce printing costs and better manage their print environment.
With Marco, they implemented a single MPS program across all of their locations. This left them with a single print provider to rely on, instead of needing to track down different vendors for each issue or service need. As a result, the school staff have much less to deal with, and overall, the school has better control of its budget.
East Central Energy
East Central Energy, a member-owned electric cooperative that services farms, homes and businesses in Minnesota and Wisconsin, used to have a printing problem. 170 employees dealing with 80 different print devices meant a whole lot of opportunities for frustration and unexpected print expenses.
Partnering with Marco for MPS allowed them to streamline their print environment and has saved them nearly $23,000 over a five-year period. Their equipment went from collectively being nearly five years old, to averaging closer to one year, while providing nearly 100% networked units. In addition, some printing no longer needed to be outsourced, which also contributed to their cost savings.
North American Truck & Trailer
North American Truck & Trailer has 14 stores in four states. Its mission is to provide its customers with impeccable parts, sales and service of the highest quality. The company’s commitment to quality, personal service, and value has earned it the reputation as a leader in the truck industry.
By implementing Marco’s Managed Print in all of its stores, North American Truck & Trailer has experienced a number of benefits. The first was a significant cost savings using a single printing contract for the entire organization.
Pawn America
Pawn America is a retail chain in the Midwest that originated as a single store opening in 1991. Flash forward to 2019, the company now employs more than 500 people. Pawn America’s print environment is made up of 26 stores, 250+ printers, multifunction printers and copiers. The retailer experiences many key benefits while using Marco’s Managed Print Services (MPS) such as a consistent budget, automated supplies and maintenance and responsive service.
Pawn America has partnered with Marco on Managed Print Services since 2013. Prior to its relationship, there was no program in place for managing the company’s print environment. Instead, each store would contact corporate’s IT department when they needed supplies or maintenance.
