Jered Schock Named Award  Recipient of Prairie Business Magazine's 40 Under 40

FARGO, ND, DEC. 3, 2018 – Jered Schock, Marco strategic account manager, has been awarded a spot in Prairie Business Magazine’s prestigious 40 under 40 list for 2018. The award includes 40 of the top business professionals under the age of 40 in the upper Midwest, highlighting some of the most inspiring, committed professionals.

Schock has made a positive impact on the company and his local Sioux Falls community since joining Marco in 2016. Within his first year at Marco, Jered became the top IT account representative in the entire company by landing one of the largest deals in Marco’s history—a deal worth over $3.5 million.

As one of the top revenue-producing individuals at Marco, Jered is an extroverted, caring leader and mentor. Marco Sales Manager Jason Boutwell spoke about Schock’s attributes: “Everybody knows Jered because of his likeability and energetic demeanor. He always asks with a smile and a ‘please,’ and it’s always received with a ‘thank you.’ People appreciate that about him. He’s quick to recognize and first to take blame, and that’s really what a leader should be.”

Not only does he inspire his Marco team, but Schock regularly gives presentations to businesses about cyber security. As a subject-matter expert, he teaches businesses how to protect themselves in the ever-changing world of technology. “IT can be very complex, especially when you consider all of the challenges caused by cyber criminals. I love talking about cybersecurity because the target is always moving. It feels good knowing that we are offering practical strategies to defend customers’ data,” Schock said.

Schock is also active in his Sioux Falls hometown. He assists on multiple boards, including the Sioux Falls South Downtown Lions Club. Each year, the club hosts the Lions Club Pancake Days – a fundraiser that serves over 10,000 individuals in under 18 hours and raises $50,000 to support local charities. Schock raises over $6,000 for the fundraiser annually though ticket sales. He is also a member of the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Network and serves on the leadership team for Embrace Church, the fastest growing United Methodist church in the country.

“I think it’s important to see how your giving impacts an organization, and giving locally helps do that. I love the quote by Zig Ziglar: ‘You will get all you want in life, if you help enough other people get what they want.’ I try to live by that, and it’s been true in my life,” Schock explained.

Schock was humbled to discover he won the 40 Under 40 award, but we at Marco know he is deserving of this exceptional recognition. “I have read the 40 under 40 many times, and it’s cool to be nominated and accepted for the award—although I just barely made it in time, since I turn 40 in June,” he joked.
